The symbol depicted in the Farlong logo represents the Chinese character of “川,” which means rivers or streams of running water, the continually renewing source of life. The company name represents far and long, signifying positive energy and the flowering of business.

Farlong produces formulas from seed to shelf at its 6,000-acre GAP farm located in the Wenshan mountainous area of Yunnan Province, where the soil acidity, sunlight, temperature, rainfall, pressure and altitude enable the best yield for active plant components. The geographical area of the farm’s location is known for harvesting Panax Notoginseng and other specific ancient China herbs, proven to benefit the health and improvement for a variety of medical conditions. Farlong combines traditional processing methods with the most advanced production techniques, ensuring that all decoction ingredients are transferred to full-spectrum concentrated ingredients while achieving greater levels of stability and clinical effectiveness.

Farlong develops proprietary, effective formulas including Ginseng Plus® Panax Notoginseng™ for heart health, Lifeflower® Breviscapine for cognitive health, AstaBest® Astaxanthin for antioxidant nutrition, and InnerPure® for colon detoxing. In 2020, Farlong completed a three-year clinical trial in North America with healthy participants to determine the effects of its Ginseng Plus® Panax Notoginseng™ extract. The randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind, parallel study demonstrated that Farlong NotoGinseng™ supplementation was well tolerated and may have a positive influence on reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease by improving blood pressure and HDL-C. The trial results are published in a peer-reviewed medical journal, Current Nutraceuticals Journal by Bentham Science.

What motivated Farlong’s founder to start the company?

Andy Zeng founded Farlong Nutraceutical in 1998. He graduated from Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine where he majored in Chinese Medicine, and earned his MBA from La Sierra University in Riverside California. He founded his first pharmaceutical company in China in 1994 and created the famous detox formula, InnerPure®, which is still the bestselling detox natural product in China as of today.

Andy was motivated to start Farlong Nutraceutical because of his desire to improve people’s health with natural herbs, ingredients and supplements and assist them in living a healthy lifestyle. His principles are based on clinical data, research and providing a high quality of products and service. When launching Farlong, Andy began by building strong research and development teams in order to ensure they could provide top quality products at an affordable price.

What opportunities does Farlong look forward to?

Over the past 10 years, the nutraceuticals industry has grown tremendously and continues to do so. Due to this growth and increased consumer familiarity with nutraceuticals, Farlong recently rebranded to Farlong Nutraceutical (previously Farlong Pharmaceutical) after 24 years in operation. “The term ‘nutraceutical’ is derived from ‘nutrition’ and ‘pharmaceutical,’ which more precisely describes Farlong’s mission to provide naturals ways to improve health, slow down aging, and protect the body from chronic diseases through medicinal herbs, dietary supplements, and functional foods,” said Jing Struve, executive director of Farlong Nutraceutical.

Farlong expects more people to continue seeking alternative medicine, medicinal herbs, and Eastern medicine due to the state of the current health system in the U.S. Americans are having a hard time affording health insurance, getting appointments with doctors in a timely manner, and affording prescriptions. Eastern medicine often provides a more natural, affordable and accessible way to treat and help with common health issues such as anxiety, weight loss, detox, sleep disorders, digestive conditions, diabetes, cholesterol control and infertility needs.

The global dietary supplement market was valued at 151.9 billion in 2021, and experts expect a compound annual growth rate of 8.5% from 2022 to 2030. Key growth factors include increased consumer awareness regarding personal wellbeing. The botanical ingredient market is the second largest sub-segment, expected to reach a 9.2% growth rate between 2022-2030. As the market grows, Farlong will continue to expand and increase its offerings to meet the needs and demands of today’s customers.
